Vacation Rental Rules Debated - While many Maui Farmers rely on vacation rentals for supplemental income due to rising costs of land and taxes, Maui County Farm Bureau board opposes the practice. "... if the person wants rentals, they should get the land rezoned."

Commission says no to vacation rental bill - The Maui Planning commission voted 6-0 against the ordinance that would have made it easier for vacation rental owners to get permits for their short-term vacation rentals. The county will likely continue the current policy of not enforcing land use regulations that prohibit vacation rentals without proper permits.
